PTSA BOARD OPEN POSITIONS 2021/2022
VICE PRESIDENT OF CLASS FUNDS
The Vice President of Class Funds is the treasurer for the Class Funds Committee and any additional RHS group that falls under the PTSA. They will keep accurate records at all times; receive, issue receipts and deposit promptly in an authorized account all monies and disburse the same according to the approved budget of each class committee; present a written financial statement at each regular meeting, and provide the PTSA Treasurer with a yearend report for tax reporting purposes. This is a great position to train for the position of Treasurer. This position is not responsible for fund raising, but thee budgeting and payments. CHAIRS - APPOINTED POSITIONS (one year)
The Advocacy Chair has 4 main roles:
To provide the school community and RHS PTSA Board with information about relevant advocacy opportunities and resources. This includes, but is not limited to, information about: our school, school district, state legislature, Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and other community/government organizations.
To be a point of contact for the school community to relay questions, needs, and concerns to the RHS PTSA Board.
To represent the RHS PTSA at the annual Washington State PTA Legislative Assembly in October.
To participate in the annual Washington State PTA Advocacy Week in January.
Once your name is entered into the Washington State PTA leadership database, you should receive newsletters and emails regarding advocacy issues from WSPTA, National PTA, and Seattle Council PTA. Other good sources of information are the WSPTA Advocacy website and the WA State Parent Legislative Chairs FB group. Information and resources should be shared with our community at RHS PTSA Board meetings, in the RHS eNews, on the RHS PTSA website, on the RHS PTSA FB page, and via any future methods of communication established by the RHS PTSA.
The Membership chair manages the PTSA membership. Duties include online database coordination, creating and implementing a membership plan, promoting membership throughout the year, providing reports to the PTSA board, collecting dues, and membership form creation. Running and designing membership drives to help build a strong membership and increase numbers every year. Input data from membership forms and coordinating with the treasurer.
The Volunteer Chair will promote volunteer opportunities widely. Forward lists of volunteers by activity and share with committee and event chairpeople when they need the information. Share volunteer openings with board and general PTSA members so they can let others know.
RIDER DAY CHAIR
The Rider Day Chair coordinates with the staff and teachers to create a fun and engaging Rider Day. Rider Day is a national high school transition program that welcomes freshmen and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their high school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed. Must be available in late August (on campus event).
GOLDEN GRADS LUNCHEON CHAIR
This position coordinates food and volunteers for the annual Golden Grads Luncheon.
